Coastal Maine Winter Potpourri

The winter months of December 2010 and January 2011 have come and gone with their fair share of cold, snow and frosty scenes along coastal Maine.

Many wintertime images have already been depicted in some of the “Moments in Maine” features that have appeared in weeks past, but a number of others, though not featured, were not “left out in the cold.”

From sunrise to sunset and snow to coastal Maine traditions, Ann-Marie and I hope you enjoy this random selection of photos from December and January that reveal a slice of coastal Maine.

Coastal Maine

Bob Trapani Jr.

Believing the wonderment of the Maine coast is as much about how it stirs our emotions as it is visually pleasing, Bob endeavors to use his photography – often times laced with scene-inspiring sentiments, to capture the depth of its beauty and charm.

    It is hard to pick a favorite with so many great photos as they all have someting special. The one of the fishpier at sun rise titled “Stillness as a new day dawns” is spectacular. The one that I keep looking at, though, is the lone fishing boat titled “Placid”. It pulls the viewer in. It is amazing how one small element in a picture, in this case, the lone light on the shore, really makes it work.
    Great pictures and thank you for sharing.

    Bob & Ann-Marie;
    Hard as it may seem, you MAY have outdone yourselves in this series! They are wondersful and artfully titled too!
    I particuarly loved the ‘sculpted’ snow and the bouy pictures.
    Thanks again for sharing Maine with those of us unfortunate enough NOT to live there………….. or to have your ‘eye’.

    Great photos. Especially liked the one with the clam – appears it is calling out “Does anyone have an extra blanket?”

    I have personally known only of two others who so appreciated and valued where he/she lives. One in Wales in the dearest little village, living in the former Mill House. The other, my father, in Ohio. Though few images were taken by camera, their minds and hearts are/were full of the glories of every season.

    Impressive and beautiful, Bob and Marie.

    Once again, you remind me I am still on the wrong coast. If you only knew how you make my heart sigh when I see your pictures. Thank you Ann-Marie for the Placid lobstah boat. It made me smell the salt in the air with a whiff of herring bait drifting by.
